Carbon Reduction Commitment Health Check

The whole Carbon Reduction Scheme is currently under review by the Government and its final form is by no means clear. Whilst information on this page was correct at the time it was written, details may be subject to change.

Every organisation whose electricity use at any site was measured through at least one half-hourly meter (HHM) in calendar year 2008 is in some way obligated under the Carbon Reduction Commitment Energy Efficiency Scheme (CRC).

All such companies are required to register details of their electricity consumption with the Environment Agency, however many companies have so far failed to provide the required data.

If you have concerns about your company's obligations under CRC then EDP's CRC Health Check service has been designed to provide peace of mind and a clear action plan for compliance for any company obligated under the CRC.

EDP's CRC Health Check includes:

An assessment of your energy use in order to identify your potential level of participation under CRC as either:

- An Information Discloser, or
- A Full participant


A report outlining what needs to be done within your organisation to comply with CRC via a tailored 'Compliance Pack Guide'


Advice as to what the next steps should be and the ongoing financial and legal obligations for the organisation


Submission of the relevant information to the regulator on your behalf, thereby ensuring that you comply with the relevant reporting requirements
