Air Quality Services

Gull in Flight

We provide services to clients in all aspects of air quality management from dust sampling to pollution modelling.

Our services help to demonstrate compliance with environmental permit requirements (e.g. stack emissions monitoring) and to ensure that developments do not adversely impact the surrounding environment (e.g. nuisance noise and dust monitoring during construction activities).

Our consultants are MCERTS accredited professionals and we use MCERTS/UKAS accredited laboratories where required to deliver our services:

Environmental Noise Assessments

We provide a full range of environmental noise surveys, including for example:

  • BS 4142 (Rating Industrial Noise Affecting Mixed Residential and Industrial Areas)
  • PPG 24 Noise and Planning
  • BS 5228 (Noise and Vibration Control on Construction and Open Sites)
  • CRTN (Calculation of Road Traffic Noise)

We can also provide predictive noise modelling assessments for construction activities - providing a more cost-effective noise assessment solution.

Dust Sampling

Dust from construction activities can be a major nuisance to people in surrounding areas. Many construction projects are required (often as a condition of planning consent) to undertake dust sampling to ensure levels are being effectively managed.

We offer dust monitoring by either of the two main methods:

  • Dust deposition gauges - which calculate the quantity of dust settling on surfaces over a defined time period
  • Hand held particulate monitoring equipment – which calculates the quantity of particulates in the atmosphere and thereby the potential effects on human health

Stack Emissions Monitoring

Using MCERTS accredited technicians and laboratories, we offer a full suite of Stack Emissions Monitoring Services to meet regulatory permit requirements including, for example:

  • VOCs
  • Combustion Gases
  • Acid Gases
  • Particulates
  • Halons/Halides
