Complying with Permits and Licenses
We all want to safeguard our environment from the damage and pollution that can result from the irresponsible conduct of the minority.
To this end, the UK government and European Commission are moving more and more toward licensing and regulating those actions of businesses and other organisations which can impact the environment.
In order to comply with the law, it is essential that you are aware of the permits and licences that affect you.
The Environment Agency lists the following areas and activities:

- Trade effluent - discharges to sewers
For discharge of liquid wastes into the public sewerage system.
- Waste carriers, brokers and dealers
For certain dealers and transporters of waste materials.
- Waste incineration
For owners and users of waste incineration facilities.
- Waste management licensing
For storage, treatment and disposal of waste.
- Water use and efficiency
For abstraction and efficient use of surface water and groundwater.

For water users in Scotland.
- Water pollution
For preventing pollution of surface water and groundwater.
