First Aid at Work


Overview

The Health and Safety (First Aid) Regulations require an employer to provide adequate first aid cover in the workplace.

This course covers the practical skills needed by a first aider in the workplace and is aimed at:

Organisations where risk assessment indicates a higher risk environment that requires more comprehensive first aid provision. Typically, this is likely to include sectors such as Construction, Manufacturing or Transport
Organisations or locations that do not have ready access to professional emergency medical services
Other organisations looking for the most comprehensive first aid training


Objectives

This course gives the delegate confidence and knowledge to deal with first aid emergencies that are likely to be encountered in most workplaces.

Who should attend

Those who are nominated as first aiders in higher risk workplaces and others wanting comprehensive training in first aid.

To be eligible for assessment and certification, candidates must attend all sessions of the course and must be physically able to carry out all the procedures detailed in the course.

Duration

This course duration is 3 days.

Materials

Each delegate receives a manual containing course information and reference material.

Assessment and Certification

Candidates who successfully complete a final assessment receive an HSE approved certificate, which is valid for three years.

To continue practicing as a first aider, delegates need to attend a re-qualification course before their certificate expires after three years.

Qualified first aiders are also encouraged to attend annual refresher training.
