The number of confirmed cases of swine flu in the UK has now risen to more than 2,700 and is continuing to rise. Although most symptoms have been relatively mild, over 30 people were admitted to hospital with the infection.

According to the Health Secretary, Andy Burnham, the UK is as well prepared as any country in the world for such an outbreak. However, it is still wise for businesses to prepare for any impact on their workforces that might result if high numbers need to stay at home due to infection and recovery.
