Overview

New Health and Safety Regulations aimed at all aspects of Construction were introduced in April 2007. The Construction (Design and Management) Regulations 2007 served to consolidate existing legislation.

The result is that Clients, Designers, CDM-Co-ordinators, Principal Contractors and Contractors are all subject to changed responsibilities.

Regardless of your role in a Construction project, a detailed understanding of your own responsibilities and what you should expect of others is an essential requirement.

Objectives

The aim of this seminar is to provide a working knowledge of the CDM2007 Regulations so that you are able to apply them effectively in Construction projects.

By the end of the course, delegates will be able to:

  • Have a working understanding of the nature and scope of the new CDM Regulations.
  • Understand their own role and duties in a project as defined by the Regulations.
  • Discharge their duties with the confidence that they are complying with the new legislation.

The Seminar provides an in-depth study of the Regulations, focussing on those aspects that are of particular relevance to the delegates.

Who should attend

Anyone who has one or more of the following roles in a Construction project:

  • Client
  • Designer
  • CDM-Co-ordinator
  • Principal Contractor
  • Contractor

Duration

Normal course duration is 1 day. However, with appropriate preparation, it can be run as an intensive half-day session, which can be held at our training facilities or in-house.

Preparation

No preparation is required, though delegates may find it advantageous to download and print off copies of the new Regulations and the Industry Guidance Notes for the roles in which they are interested, available at:

Materials

A copy of the PowerPoint slides is made available to every delegate after the course.

Note

If required, courses that are commissioned by a single organisation can be tailored to emphasise those aspects of the Regulations and their application that are of most significance.
