  • Overview of Risk Assessments and their application.
  • Guidance on formulation of relevant documentation and records (Safety Management System).
  • Setting and achieving Health and Safety objectives.

Overview

The Health and Safety at Work Act and the Management of Health and Safety at Work Regulations require employers to have in place suitable arrangements for managing health and safety in their organisations.

This course covers the essential knowledge that senior managers need to discharge this responsibility.

Objectives

The course provides necessary guidance on UK and European Health and Safety legislation to:

  • Understand the broad outline of relevant Health and Safety legislation.
  • Understand Senior Management responsibilities for effectively managing Health and Safety.
  • Plan, develop and implement a Health and Safety Policy and relevant procedures.
  • Prepare business plans that include relevant Health and Safety objectives.

Who should attend

This course is suitable for persons in either of the following roles:

  • Directors and Senior Managers responsible for Health and Safety policies and procedures.
  • Facilities Managers responsible for day-to-day Health and Safety within their organisations.

Duration

The normal course duration is a full day. However, depending on local requirements, the course can be tailored for a shorter duration.

Preparation

Delegates should bring along existing policy statements and Health and Safety business objectives/plan from their organisations.

For maximum benefit, they should also be prepared to discuss their approach to managing Health and Safety.

A Health and Safety manual is provided for each delegate.
