EDP has an opportunity for an experienced Health, Safety and Environment Manager to join our service delivery team within a well-known financial services client based in central London but operating worldwide.
The successful candidate will be responsible for leading projects within the client’s global health, safety and sustainability strategy across the business’s operations in over 70 countries globally, including major hubs in the UK, Europe, USA and APAC
Sitting within the global property team, the focus of the role will be to act as the internal advisor to the client. You will manage a number of projects at both a UK and global level in order to ensure that the client’s health, safety and sustainability strategy is delivered across the property portfolio.
The ideal candidate will have experience of delivering health, safety and environmental services at the corporate and multi-national level coupled with excellent report writing and communication skills, a willingness to contribute to the development of the service and the desire to develop new skills and experience in order to better serve the client’s needs. Key activities include:
- Effective governance coverage of the global operations
- Co-ordination of the global safety and sustainability reporting framework in place at the client company
- The development and delivery of global level and country specific policies and procedures
- Overview of site by site compliance risks and providing the assurance that such risks are effectively controlled
- Providing coaching and mentoring to non-safety/sustainability professionals within the client in order to ensure that they can meet their regulatory and corporate performance requirements
- Tracking of national and global performance metrics and reporting on them within the client company
- Engaging with non-safety and environmental professionals to educate and encourage improved awareness of health safety and environmental performance requirements

Essential skills and experience
- An experienced Health, Safety and Environmental practitioner
- Chartered membership of the Institution of Occupational Safety & Health (CMIOSH) of Fellowship of the International Institute of Risk and Safety Management (FIIRSM)
- A relevant environmental and/or sustainability management qualification (e.g. practitioner membership of the Institute of Environmental Management and Assessment)
- Experience of delivering services within multi-site / multi jurisdiction environments
- Excellent customer service skills and a strong client focus
- Experience of a corporate office environment
- Excellent planning and scheduling skills
- Excellent communication and report writing skills
Desirable skills and experience
- Knowledge of the processes involved in the collation of global performance data and the use of software systems to manage this process
- Experience of managing your workload to agreed service levels
- A willingness to develop new skills and support the wider activities of the client
- Experience of training and induction delivery
Details
- The role is based in central London at the company’s global headquarters. Homeworking is the predominant location at present however this will change as the UK emerges from COVID restrictions

Fire Safety Consultants - Ref H068
EDP has several opportunities for experienced Fire Risk Assessors to join our project services team in delivering Fire Risk Assessments and Fire Safety Consultancy services UK wide.
Reporting to the Principal Fire Safety Consultant, this is an opportunity for Fire Risk Assessors to deliver suitable and sufficient fire risk assessment and consultancy services on assigned National Accounts. Our assessors are encouraged to build client relationships and are given the latitude to provide an offering beyond a tick box risk assessment methodology in the interests of supporting the client’s needs with the right approach.
This is a home-based role with regular travel and occasional overnight stays. As well as being allocated specific National accounts the roles also offer the opportunity to work on varied projects across a broad range of sectors and, dependant on competencies across complex and non-complex environments.
The successful applicants will have relevant experience as a fire risk assessor, delivering first class services across a range of different environments, relevant fire qualifications and professional memberships and registrations. You will be self-motivated, conscientious and have been deemed competent in your field looking to join a growing business that will support your personal development and competencies.
The ideal candidates will have experience of completing fire risk assessments to PAS79 using applicable standards, guidance and Regulations in the interests of providing the Responsible Persons with assurances that they are meeting their legislative responsibilities under the Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order 2005 in undertaking a suitable and sufficient fire risk assessment.
Key activities include:
- Delivery of fire risk assessments in accordance with PAS 79-1:2020 and the wider legislative framework.
- A thorough, accurate and proficient aptitude to report writing and associated administrative functions.
- Competently liaising with Clients and others, such as fire services, buildings and facilities managers, surveyors, fire engineers and landlords in the completion of work activities.
- Being able to give complete and competent fire safety advice while developing and maintaining positive client relationships.
- Preparation and delivery of fire safety training and awareness courses.
- Development of pre-occupancy assessments, fire strategies and fire safety plans.
- Keeping up to date with current legislation and participating in CPD activities that support your ongoing competencies and achievement of, or continued inclusion on a register of competent fire risk assessors.
- Identify and define solutions to fire safety related problems.

- Proven and previous experience in the completion of Fire Risk Assessments with Specific applied knowledge and skills and appropriate qualifications to demonstrate competence.
- A good understanding of the relevant fire safety legislation, fire behaviour, the behaviour of people in fire, and the practical application of the principles of fire safety.
- Commitment to CPD with evidence of specialist training and experience and maintenance of a CPD log covering a minimum of twelve months.
- Amiable, with an aptitude to working on your own or supporting others as part of a small team.
- Good IT skills, particularly with regards to Microsoft products.
- High levels of literacy and written and verbal communication skills.
- Professional appearance and manner with exceptional diary management and time keeping.
- Full UK driving licence.
Desirable skills and experience
- Listed on a professional competency register of fire risk assessors (IFE, IFSM etc.) and that they meet the competency criteria established by the Fire Risk Assessment Competency Council.
- IFE Graduate level membership, Grad IOSH level membership of IOSH, IFSM Member grade.
- NEBOSH National General Certificate.
- Knowledge of Scottish, Northern Ireland and the Republic of Irelands fire safety Legislation.
- Experience of carrying out DSEAR risk assessments and hazardous area classification.

Health and Safety Consultant (South East of England) - Ref H048
The purpose of the role is to take a position within the EDP Project Services Team delivering Health & Safety consultancy support to a variety of clients in the UK, with an emphasis on client support in London and the South East of England.
The successful candidate will work in a variety of sectors on both long term (+12 month) projects and also short-term pieces of work.
The workload will be varied and will involve engagement with client businesses at all levels from operations to management level. Working with single site companies through to multi-national businesses, the person will be expected to deliver high standards of work at all times and actively engage with other consultants in project teams to ensure that work is delivered to the required standards.
Main Duties and Responsibilities
- Own allocated elements of client projects and deliver them through to successful conclusion
- Build and maintain strong, long-lasting customer relationships
- Partner with customers to understand their H&S needs and objectives
- Deliver client reports on time to the requirements of EDP’s internal quality standards
- Understand category-specific landscapes and trends, reporting on the forces that shift tactical budgets and strategic direction of accounts
Role Requirements:
- Demonstrable ability to communicate effectively at all levels within an organisation
- Proven ability to drive organisations towards improved H&S performance
- Excellent listening and presentation skills
- Excellent verbal and written communications skills
- Full clean UK driving licence as travel will be required
Experience and Qualifications:
The ideal candidate will possess:
ESSENTIAL
- Certificate Level qualification in H&S management (e.g. NEBOSH Certificate, NVQ Level 3 in Occupational Safety & Health)
- 3+ years of successful operation in a H&S role, consistently meeting expectations
- Technical membership of IOSH
- Experience of undertaking H&S audits and inspections
- Experience in undertaking workstation (display screen equipment) assessments
- Ability to effectively identify client needs and articulate them successfully both verbally and within written reports
- Experience of working within a multi-stakeholder environment where competing needs must be managed effectively in order to deliver results
- Experience of working in an environment where commercial performance targets are part of the workload
PREFERRED
- Be working towards a qualification level that is higher than ‘Certificate’ (e.g. NEBOSH Diploma, City & Guilds Level 5 Diploma in Occupational Health & Safety Practice)
- Graduate membership of IOSH (or above)
- Knowledge of asbestos regulatory requirements
- Internal auditor qualification
- Workstation assessment qualification
- Experience of working within OHSAS 18001 and/or ISO 14001 accredited Management Systems
